A lot of people are laughing here over the over-reaction to somebody's lost lunch bag.

All they had to do was ignore it and have it turn out to be something much worse....

Agreed. It's amusing after the fact, but much better that than the worst alternative. I work just a couple blocks up and I used to work next door to Actors Equity.
