Anyone read this article this morning? It kind of annoyed me. The gist of the article is that this fall season has no new musicals opening other than Brooklyn. Then it goes on to say how Brooklyn may have a hard time because:
"The show lacks not only well-known creators, but also flashy pyrotechnics (see "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang") and big stars (see John Lithgow in "Scoundrels" or David Hyde Pierce and Tim Curry in "Spamalot"). 'At best, I thought this would be a show that starts slow and builds gradually,' Mr. Mordecai [a producer for Brooklyn] said. 'That there's some time to allow it to get some attention is welcome.'"
In my opinion, This is what's wrong with Broadway right now...gawd fordbid a show is not all flash, spectacle, and huge stars. Even the producer said it take time to build an audience. For gawd's sake, have faith in the show and promote. Don't be lackluster. Sheesh!
