Here's my review:
The Score-Well, some of the songs were truly nice (Astonishing, Days of Plenty, Some Things Are Meant to Be....) but some of them were boring. They all sounded alike and some of them made me want to smack the composer/lyricist. However, everyone left the show humming the songs.
The Book-It was okay. Slightly mediocre, but okay.
The Sets, Lighting, etc...-Amazing. I loved the curtain and the sets and lighting were great. They set the mood perfectly.
The Cast-Amazing. Seeing that show made me remember why I love theater and why singing is my true passion. Sutton Foster and Maureen McGovern were truly wonderful (my mom loved Ms. McGovern but didn't think that Sutton was too amazing) and the rest of the cast (Jenny Powers, Megan McGinnis, Janet Caroll, etc.) played their parts perfectly. I didn't really like Chris Gunn as Laurie but my mom loved him. Amy McAlexander annoyed me. The only problem with the cast playing the March sisters and Laurie were that they seemed much younger than their ages. Jo and Laurie seemed about 10, Amy 7 and I couldn't really place the rest of the cast.
Stage Door-AMAZING! Sutton Foster remembered me and took a picture with me and Jenny Powers was really nice. John Kickok made fun of my friend and me because my friend was asking REALLY stupid questions. I took pictures with Jenny Powers, John Hickok and Amy McAlexander.
Overall, it was a great experience. While Little Women did not end up being my favorite show, I still really enjoyed it. The second act was a lot better than the first act and the theater was packed.

Posted: 2/6/05 at 7:32pmI saw the wend. matinee show and I pretty much felt the same way as you. Although I didn't stay around to stage door because I was too chicken to say anything to any of the actors and after crying like an idiot during days of plenty and some things are meant to be, I would of burst into tears from the experience of seeing the absoultley amazing Sutton, Maureen or, Megan infront of me. I agree with the age thing, but for me Amy just irrated and grated me to no end, not only that she may have vocally acted 7 but it was just way over the top, although apperance wise if you give me a woman who is in her mid to late twenties and try to pass her off as 13, nope sorry ( I mean I'm 19 and I literally look 12 but that just wasn't the case with her). She just not the Amy I had hoped for.

Posted: 2/6/05 at 7:42pmI begged my mom to get me an agent so I could audition for Amy, but she wouldn't let me. I'm 13 and I probably could have been better than her. She irked me!

Posted: 2/6/05 at 8:54pmWOW! A thread with my name in the title!!! I wasn't expecting that! I feel so special. Anyways, My Fair Lady, I am glad you enjoyed it, even though it isn't your favorite show. What did you say to Sutton? Did she remember you by looks or by what you said? What did your friend ask John Hickok? Great review by the way! I don't really agree about the ages thing, but maybe I don't exactly get what you are saying. Was the audience noisy? They were SO loud when I saw it!

Posted: 2/6/05 at 8:58pmI'm glad you had a good time. I can't wait to see this show (I see it actually a month from today) and I am unphased by the critics' response to it. I just feel people should see shows for themselves and form their own opinions.

Here it is!
JOHN HICKOK STORY
Before the show, my friend and I discussed politics. I mentioned that I was pro gay-marriage. So my friend starts asking questions and the one he made fun of us for (we weren't talking to him but he heard us) was, "Are all Broadway stars gay?" so I said, "Oh my god, you just don't ask that!" John Hickok says, "Oh my god, like wow!"
SUTTON FOSTER STORY
I was the first person she came up to. I said, "Do you remember me from the Snoopy rehearsal? I'm Bernie." She said, "Of course I remember you! It's so great to see you! How are you? Did you like it?" So I just said, "Yeah I'm great, you're amazing and I liked it." We then took two pictures, one from my camera and one from my friend's.
The audience was noisy and the theater was packed. And thanks! This is the second real review that I've written.

Posted: 2/6/05 at 9:15pmYeah, it was pretty embarrassing. It was her third show and her first time stage-dooring. That wasn't the only stupid thing she said. She also said, "Oh my god! He was so old and ugly on stage!"

lol same here, I left the theatre got two blocks down and turned right back around went to the theatre and asked around for the house manager. I asked about getting an ushering job at the Virgina. I figure if I can do that, I would be able to hear when they are going to open the part for audition, and in a heart beat I will totally be there. Or if that doesn't work out then I will monitor backstage like crazy so I can see when auditions are going to happen and since I'm not equity I will sit outside until equity is through and they maybe have time to see the non equity folk. I would love to play Amy or do anything in that show or in any show really so long as I can perform... I would even clean the stage, take out the garbage, sweep the house, make coffee, you name if it meant I could get up on a stage.
