BWW posted a video of Pasek & Paul performing “Waving Through a Window.” What I found interesting is that Justin didn’t have traditional sheet music, but rather a large tablet on the piano. I noticed a couple times he did a “swipe” or tap (perfect for the song LOL) to turn the page. It’s got me wondering, do lots of musicians use tablets now? I’ve always thought how persnickety paper pages can be, and if you’ve only got a split second to turn a page, there is no room for error. There is something slightly romantic about a musician or conductor using a big book of sheet music, into which they’ve written all their personal notes. Is sheet music going the way of so many other things in favor of e-versions? Do musicians no longer leaf through stacks of pages and books at music stores and instead just download their sheet music?

Or Matias also uses electronic sheet music at The Great Comet. He turns off the screen late in the final number and it also gets moved when Pierre goes to the piano.

Yes, digital is becoming increasingly popular. iPad and the app forScore are the go-to for digital sheet music libraries. There are even bluetooth pedal options for hands-free page turns.
