If you could pick a role in Tommy and play it for four weekends at a medium sized theatre, what would it or they be?
I'd pick:
Tommy at 10
OR
the Harmonica Player (Hawker's companion)

If the reality of lacking talent and physical proportion didn't matter...
Cousin Kevin. I have a thing for secondary characters...especially evil ones.

The Captain (Tommy's father). I want to wear the uniform!
(He's a Captain, right?)

God, I did Tommy for four weekends (played The Hawker and the, uh, Priest/Minister/Whatever the Hell Religious Guy He Is.)
Please, no more.

Posted: 4/27/05 at 1:50pmThe adult Tommy, of course! I'd also like to have played Cousin Kevin, though I'm getting a bit old for it now. And the Hawker has a great song, as does the Specialist (Go to the Mirror).

FYI, the original Harmonica Player from Tommy, Lee Morgan, is now playing Taylor Collins in Brooklyn the Musical. He also played The Lover in Tommy. And he has a new cd with lots of original tunes and harmonica. You can check it out at www.joeandlee.com

Hmm, I'd play the adult Tommy. Wait, I meant I would play with the adult Tommy.
But really, Sally Simpson.
re: Tommy#11
Posted: 4/27/05 at 5:31pmI've always thought that the coolest thing about Lee Morgan playing the harmonica plater was that, until shortly before he was cast in Tommy, he didn't play harmonica at all, and the harmonica player role wasn't present in the script. He was delivering pizzas and needed something to do during the time stuck in traffic, so he taught himself. When he went to audition he didn't have anything prepared so he just jammed on his harmonia, and Des McAnuff liked him so much that they created the role around him. Also just a great guy.

Posted: 5/8/05 at 3:38pmI am an 11 year old boy and I played 10 year old Tommy before last year. It is a really fun role!

Posted: 5/8/05 at 3:39pmI would want to play Cousin Kevin. Simply because he gets to sing "Pinball Wizard" which is one of my favorite Broadway songs. He's also a pretty evil character which is a polar opposite for the way I am.
