Does anyone know if a DVD exists that has Tony award highlights...not Broadway's Treasures...but anything else?? Looking for performances from the eighties?? Any ideas??

Broadway Lost Treasures is the only commercially available source for past Tony performances. Other than that, you can go to the Museum of Television and Broadcasting and watch Tony shows there.
HAHAHA... i'm thinking of someone going to the museum JUST to watch tony clips... that would definitely be someone from here
they SHOULD release a dvd just for the performances... it would be cool. there are some i want to see again

I wish they would release a DVD of all the montages/tributes they have done.

do you need a reason like when you ask to view one of the plays or musicals in the archives?

Nope, anyone can view anything at the Museum of TV & Radio just by asking. You don't need a reason.

Thread Jacking!
When I'm in NYC what tv musicals or tony award broadcast should I watch at the museum?
Umm...Zeppy, I went to the Museum of Television & Radio when I moved here *just* to watch past Tony Awards! And it's worth it! They have every year. It's pretty darn cool!

My favorite is 1969...Great musicals are nommed (Donna McKechnie, etal doing Turkey LurkeyTime!")...Angie wins for Dear World and the commercials (american airlines I believe) are hilarious.

Mine is 1976. I know I watched the show before that but 1976 was the year they started with a overhead shot of New York and Broadway, came in close on the Shubert Theater sign, then cut to black and then lights on and the A Chorus Line opening. Goosebumps just thinking about it.
