"Chicago is it's own incredible theater town right there smack down in the middle of the heartland. What a great city! I can see why Oprah likes to live there!" - Dee Hoty :-D

The Laurence Olivier Awards, the English Tony equivilant, cost under $10 for seats. Mind you, that was before they decided they weren't worthy of television broadcast and axed it. I wish we had the interest that the theatre industry enjoys in America.

I was to pay $130 per seat, which was discounted already.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Wasn't BoxOfficeJon saying the theater is more of a nationally known thing in England than in the U.S.?

Eh, whatever. :)
