The Dybbuk is one of the great stories of Jewish folklore, but in a nutshell, it's about a spirit enterting the body and controlling the actions of that individual. There have been many adaptations of the story, including several on and Off-Broadway.
I missed Kushner's version when it played at the Public back in the 90's, but I've read it and know the text is still available. I know that the original was a favorite on the Yiddish Theatre circuit and was performed dozens of times through the years.
