Here's a fairly interesting article about all the musical number for the Tonys.
I thought the Peter Allen character sang "Not the Boy Next Door" to his mother?

It's a great showcase for Hugh. This is the last song right before intermission.

NOT THE BOY NEXT DOOR - is the number that captures the quintessential Peter Allen - the song, the lively dancing, and the piano antics. That number ends up with the sight of Peter on top of the piano in that almost iconic pose from the Australian production. They probably decided to honor Peter in their TONY presentation - and felt this number was the best choice. Hey, it does showcase Hugh's talent as well -- booty dance and all ![]()
I wonder if they will re-stage the number for the TONYs - maybe more like the one presented in GOOD MORNING AMERICA during the show's previews?

There was another article ( from Associated Press drama critic Michael Kuchawara) re the choice of the production numbers.

Re NOT THE BOY NEXT DOOR --
For ``The Boy From Oz,'' the musical about Australian entertainer Peter Allen, the question was how to best showcase its star, Tony nominee Hugh Jackman, who plays Allen.
``Hugh was keen to do something that is up tempo, kind of Peter Allenesque, rather than one of the more downbeat ballads,'' Ben Gannon, one of the producers of ``The Boy From Oz,'' said.
The ``Oz'' number will feature Jackman and the band on stage with a couple of the female singers, warbling ``Not the Boy Next Door,'' which was Allen's signature song.
``The song gives Hugh a chance to play around with the guys in the band and with the backup girls in the same way Peter used to do in his act and in the way Hugh does in the show,'' Gannon explained.
Jackman also is host of the awards show.

It looks like the set would be more like BICOASTAL, but with a different song ![]()
