Makes sense - dressing rooms are tiny affairs and it couldn't be comfortable meeting people there.
I've been lucky to have been invited to the Broadhurst dressing room on Broadway and the Queens and Palladium dressing rooms in London - and unless it's like the London Palladium which is more suite-like ( with a receiving room), the stage is probably a more appropriate place for stars to meet friends, etc...
IssaMe - any important celebrities seen watching the show?

hi! first time posting. i'm seeing the show on nov. 13th, and i heard someone on another board say it was easier to get an autograph from hugh before the show since the crowds are smaller. issame or whoever can answer - what time does he usually arrive at the theater for an evening show with no matinee before it?
thanks!

when i saw the show La Kidman was three rows in front of our seats (this was in previews, the last week of September).
My feeling is that this show will be like THE GRADUATE...the buzz is strong enough that it's review-proof and maybe word-of-mouth proof. But of course i think this show is much stronger material than that film-turned-play, not to mention more suitable to the headliner's talents. Then again, GRADUATE had Biggs and Silverstone in feature roles to bring in a demographic that was different than Turner's. It's all the "business" part of "show business"...apparent in Jackman's hosting the Tony's even before his show was in previews. Nothing the matter with it at all...
and LCZ, what color would those batting eyes be? hard to tell in the avatar you don't always post anyway...

TxTwoStep, we must have been at the same show! My cousin and I were there on September 21, in the next to last row of the orchestra, and the buzz at intermission was all about Nicole Kidman being in the audience. I only saw the back of her head and profile when she turned to the person sitting on her left. She left during the curtain calls, brushing right by my cousin who had moved to the aisle to see better. She was amazed to see how tall Nicole was -- my cousin is tall, but Nicole had her beat by a few inchs
.

Posted: 10/7/03 at 4:21pmyeah, hard to see much of her. She looked gorgeous if thin (there we go, poking our noses into famous people's private lives again). i noticed she skedaddled during the calls too, probably because of the "buzz at intermission" and her not wanting to be mobbed afterwards. i thought it was great she was being low-key and therefore not infringing on the Hugh focus of the event. She did seem to enjoy the performance.

It was nice to see that people left her alone during the interval, even if they were talking about her. I did wonder if she went backstage to see Hugh after she left, but IssaMe's post above seems to negate that theory.
IssaMe, does the show still open with "Not the Boy Next Door"?

Nicole Kidman is openly known as a very good friend of the Jackman couple ( particularly Deborra-Lee) and has said on the VOGUE interview " I think there are huge surprises in store for American audiences about Hugh ...He is capable of enormous range".
It would be interesting to see Nicole and Hugh in a movie together ( maybe even a musical).

No, but thank you for the compliment. I'm an American, living and working in Europe at the present time. I've been to London several times over the last year visiting friends and going to the West End, so some of the lingo has stuck with me -- I've even gotten into the habit of writing "theatre" instead of "theater." ![]()
I agree with you about the actor playing young Peter... he is simply amazing.

Lately "All the Lives of Me", the ballad, has returned as the opener with "Not the Boy Next Door" relegated to ending Act 1.
But consideration is being given to again return "Not the Boy Next Door" to the top of the show and dumping "All the Lives of Me".
The shorter answer to your question (and all questions about this show in transitition) is : "at which performance?"

Thanks IssaMe... I guess I should have rephrased the question
. When I saw it the show opened with Not The Boy NExt Door, and I really liked it. It's such a nice upbeat tune, I thought it worked well to have it as the opening. I haven't heard All the Lives of Me, so I can't say which I like better. I'll ask the question again after opening night!

I have no idea what time he arrives, but you could station yourself by the back door at least an hour ahead of time. The stage door is on 46th St. and is the small door to the left of the big brass doors. When we were there it had a dumpster next to it. Charming ambiance. You can then turn going away from Broadway and cut through a parking lot to get to the front of the theater.
On exit he autographs first to his right coming out the door and then *his* left. I'd heard this in another forum and he did it when we were there. He is very amiable and was taking pictures with folks as well as signing. You do need to be upfront to get anything signed because he doesn't have time for everyone. He appreciates polite and was signing books my very tall husband was handing to him from folks too short to reach.
You will have a ball and it's worth every dime.
Peace,
Jane
Ps you can pre-order the new CD at Amazon for $14.99! It will be out November 18th.

No.
Minor changes can still be made (song order, cuts, etc.) - large changes have already been made and are pretty well set.

Since press nights start kicking in this week before the official opening on Thursday, it has to be frozen REAL soon.
Once we get past the weekend, little can or will be changed.
The cast has been terrific in taking all these changes in stride - just like in the old days of out of town tryouts - but this time right in front of everybody in New York.
Major press stories breaking - including tomorrow's gigantic feature on Jackman in Newsday.

Thanks for the heads up on the Newsday article IssaMe... if anyone sees any other articles would they please let us know which papers? Those of us not currently in the New York City area (and not even in the U.S.!
) would greatly appreciate it.

It's Hugh's birthday, too - 12 October ![]()
No time to celebrate, I guess - they'll probably be deep in rehearsals!
