Saw the play with my wife on Friday night. Sorry to say it was the most boring play I've ever seen. Very, very slow... Even worse than the second act of "Retreat From Moscow". The lady next to me was asleep for most of it, and it was all I could do to close my eyes and doze. My wife actually nodded off a few minutes too, and she has NEVER done this. She claimed the play was torture to her. I tend to agree, it was long, boring and maybe only interesting to some people - maybe those much smarter than me who can interpret it at a higher level... Not entertaining at all, in my opinion (we do see a LOT of plays).

By the way, Chita was good yesterday... Barefoot in the Park tomorrow night! And I do like some dramas - loved "Doubt"!!!

by BWW News Desk

The Roundabout Theatre Company's new Broadway production of Eugene O'Neill's drama A Touch of the Poet, directed by Tony Award-winner Doug Hughes at Studio 54 on Broadway (254 West 54th Street) will end its limited engagement on January 29th.

The show opened on Thursday, December 8th, 2005. It will have played 32 preview performances and 58 regular performances at closing.

The show stars Gabriel Byrne (Cornelius Melody) with Dearbhla Molloy (Nora Melody), Emily Bergl (Sara Melody), John Horton (Nicholas Gadsby), Byron Jennings (Jamie Cregan), Kathryn Meisle (Deborah), Randall Newsome (Paddy ODowd), Ciaran O'Reilly (Dan Roche) and Daniel Stewart Sherman (Mickey Maloy).

"Eugene O'Neill's dramatic masterpiece A Touch of the Poet is an emotionally gripping, passionately romantic, and surprisingly funny portrait of a unique immigrant family. Cornelius Melody (Gabriel Byrne) finds himself in a quandary when his daughter falls for the son of a wealthy American and he insists on maintaining his European gentility," state press notes.

Tickets are now available by calling Roundabout Ticket Services at (212)719-1300, online at www.roundabouttheatre.org, or at the Studio 54 Box Office (254 West 54th St.).
