I think "track" is over- and misused by fans on the board who want to show off that they know the inside lingo. That's why it's annoying.

I wasn't aware that it was "inside lingo," but if indeed it is, I can see how that would be annoying. I'm so used to hearing it and seeing it on the sound table's microphone slips at work that it's become commonplace to me.
