Posted: 4/3/05 at 8:35amFor my college audition, I need a song from the traditional musical theatre repertoire. What exactly is traditional? Is the Music Man traditional? Chicago? What's traditional?

Posted: 4/3/05 at 8:39amI'd say stick to the safe side and sing some Gershwin, Cole Porter or Richard Rodgers.

Posted: 4/3/05 at 8:55amProbably anything that's got a recognisable melody and isn't rock.

Something from the Golden Age.
Styne, Coleman, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Kander and Ebb, Early Sondheim (eg A Funny...Forum), Lerner and Loewe, Bock and Harnick, Meredith Wilson, Porter, Herman et al.
Something from the 30's, 40's, 50's or 60's would be best, I think.
