"Tuneless does not equal Artistic"
That may be true of My Life With Albertine. I cannot find anything interesting in the story or the score. LaChiusa is often not hummable, but I have a huge respect for the compexity of his scores. The Producers has many tunes in its score, but I found it to be one of the weakest score of the season.
But then, what is "artistic" and why? It's so subjective, it's impossible to define. Can Shaiman, Sondheim, LaChiusa, Rodgers, and Lloyd Webber all be considered artistic? I think so.
