Transfer of Caroline, or Change — Page 2

I don't think any of the producers actually think they'll get back what they invest, you rarely do with a risky product, but I am so happy it is transferring. Broadway needs new, original musicals. I don't want to walk down Broadway with marquees displayingsuch insults as "Skater Boy: the Musical" featuring Avril Lavinge hits. Caroline is original, out of the ordinary and unique. We all said that a Urinetown transfer was dumb. Granted, Caroline doesn't have the wide appeal of Urinetown, but give it a chance. I think it is wonderful it is transferring. Is it perfect? No. Is it the next The Producers? No. Does it deserve a Broadway transfer? Yes. Yes, indeed.

i have heard so many good things about this show i hope it does transfer to broadway.

Well, somebody above who hasn't seen Caroline but has heard about it from friends seems to think a transfer won't work at all. So that's that, I guess.

And of course we know you probably didn't read the article that talked about the investors who want to bring it to Broadway for artistic reasons, not because they think there's much hope for even recouping their investments but because they believe in the material. How does that fit into your worldview? Of course, in your self-selected circle you don't "hear" people saying positive things. But the show did make many top ten lists...

And Bulldog doesn't spell very good taste. Thanks for the bee. Why don't you just explain what your bias is AGAINST a show you haven't actually seen but think you know what it "sounds" like?

I'm not attacking you personally, although switching to the victim mode is a tried and true way to respond to a post while deflecting the very real questions posed in the thread you feel so wounded by, you little delicate flower.

Opinions are nice. Informed ones are worth listening to. Those with unstated biases and no exposure to the material being belittled aren't worth the diodes they're posted on. If you ever actually SEE the show you decided "sounds" pretentious, perhaps we can have a conversation at the grown ups table. Meanwhile, have fun with the kiddies. You're just the flip side of the "Awesome Gang."
