He is so wrong for that role!! I may not even go see it just because of him.
They've only made TWO...
I thought Billy Crystal was cast as Wilbur Turnblad?... I think that's a good casting choice as well.
If it were a perfect world:
Harvey as Edna
Bruce as the owner of the shop.
Jackie Hoffman as the gym coach.
Julie Halston as Prudy P/
Aretha AS MOTOR MOUTH
Kerry Butler as Penny
Kathy Brier as Tracy
I know what you mean...
I think this is one of those cases of just how Hollywood is.
You can't tell me that they chose Travolta purely because he is a well known actor and they need to "sell the show" and not the fact that hes straight.
Don't get me wrong. I love Mr Travolta. Just not as Edna Turnblad.
HARVEY WON A TONY. Harvey made the best Edna. I think Travolta is talented, but he is a sex symbol. Harvey is Edna.
Enough said.
oh i agree with you.
John Travolta was one of my first crushes.
I was in love with him in Grease and would sing the Sandy role with my Sister and friends. I was a damn amazing Rizzo.
But, I just can't see him as Edna.
Harvey is one of the most talented men in the business and I really admire him.

I edited the photo back to its original state... I first had a skinnier Edna... and then decided to make her fatter... but all i really did was give her a weird neck...
So lets just say Edna had a lil lipo. If you saved the pic.. you can see what I changed.

...And realistically 4 people in the audience at the multiplexes. Sorry, Corine2---This ain't a perfect world.
I'm looking forward to seeing this movie, in a movie theatre, with a movie cast, on film, with movie audiences. It's a different game now.
No guarantee of its success... but America has made it clear it's not interested in seeing these "baseball players" in a "hockey game" either.
