I am now watching watching one of the finest performances put in by an actor, Eli Wallach in "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly." - a truly unforgettable performance. This is a true story. Eli Wallach once wrote me a 3 page letter as a response to a letter I wrote to him. In my life I never heard of a Hollywood/Broadway star writing a personal letter to an unknown person. Hard to believe. It is absolutely true. The man had graciousness just as much as talent. There will never be another Eli Wallach.

There was an old B/W series called The Naked City. It ran 5 seasons but only 4 can you see for some unknown reason. Like shows in the 50's and 60's it was a showcase for unknown actors who are now acting legends . First season was a half hour which than expanded to an hour .It was shot in the streets of NY and many buildings shown are now gone. He was in 2 episodes between 1960 and 1962 .You can see the entire. series for free on a site called Tubi. The writing on the series was superb.I tried to get the names of the episodes but no luck. He actually turned down the Sinatra part in From Here to Eternity to do a play. Sinatra called him 'That crazy actor guy.'
