Jose'!
CONGRATULATIONS on yet ANOTHER T.P. win!!!
YES, of course MISS LIBERTY (1949) with a score by Irving Berlin and Book by Robert Sherwood used the story of France gifting the Statute of Liberty to America as a basis for its plot.
Although the characters contained some genuine historical figures such as newspaperman Joseph Pulitzer, the story the musical told was 99.99% Fiction.
Way to go, my man!!!
Now for your bonus points:
Berlin wrote a song for Fred Astaire and Judy Garland to sing in the film EASTER PARADE. Arthur Freed didn't like the song, so it was dropped and replaced with "A Couple of Swells."
However, the song DID find its way into the score of MISS LIBERTY.
What song am I thinking of?

Jose'!!!
You are RAZOR SHARP this Sunday, aren't you?
YES, it was the charming "Let's Take an Old-Fashioned Walk" that was written for EASTER PARADE, never used for that film, but found a home in MISS LIBERTY.
And your prize, Jose'?
Well, you are now a dancer in 1870s Paris! Due to some happy misunderstandings, it is thought you were the model for the Statute of Liberty and brought back to New York as the toast of the town!!!
Your happy deception is uncovered, of course, but not before you see ALL of New York in the Gilded Age with Eddie Albert as your guide!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, folks!!!

"Let's Take an Old Fashioned Walk":
Let’s take an old fashioned walk
I’m just bursting with talk
What a tale could be told
If we went for an old fashioned walk
Let’s take a stroll through the park
Down a lane where it’s dark
And a heart that’s controlled
May relax on an old fashioned walk
I know for a couple who seem to be miles apart
There’s nothing like walking and having a “heart to heart”
I know a girl who declined
Couldn’t make up her mind
She was wrapped up and sold
Coming home from an old fashioned walk

Well, you seemed a little surprised that Boyd Gaines had won the Tony Award three times.
I was just providing with what I thought was FURTHER astounding information--that EVERY time he's nominated, he wins!
No biggie--please feel free to be anyone you care to, including Marquise.
