I was in Wal-mart today and ran into my old Chorus teacher we started talking about my New York Trip and he told me to go see it, because his daugter is the understudy of the guys' assistant.

I just wanted to know if anyone knew anything about it

I dont think that she will go on opeing weekend though
shes the understudy

I miss her, shes so funny and cool
I member her and I singing "i'm going home" at the end og rehersal one day, and she was on the plane with a friend of mine coming home from NYC last christmas and they didnt know it

coencidentaly I heard some reallly bad news about that other girl yesterday

and I am rambling so off topic its not even funny

can someone go see it and tell me how it is
I still think I'm going to go see it while I'm up there though

Your friendly neighborhood BWW critic will be seeing it this weekend and will post a review after the opening. It stars Fritz Weaver, who is one of our great older stage actors and one of the pioneers of early TV dramas. He also starred in the musical Baker Street.

I keep getting flyers about this in the mail (I have about 4 now). It shows Fritz Weaver and quotes reviews from one of the Chicago papers that the play should win the Pulitzer Prize...... Anyway, while I certainly respect Weaver, my schedule's pretty full for the next couple of weeks, so I'm going to wait and see how the critics weigh in on this one before deciding whether to buy tickets.

I saw the Canadian premiere here in Ottawa (it's a co-pro with CanStage, and is an unrelated production to the one about to open in NYC). It's one of the better productions I've seen here at the National Arts Centre in a very long time. A Canadian production would vary quite a bit from an American one, due to the differing perspectives of the secretary (who is from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) and Judge Biddle. I'd actually love to be able to compare the two.

As a two-hander, it's a very solid (if slightly formulaic) play. Joanna Glass is delving into her own experiences as Frances Biddle's part-time secretary, and presenting what can only be described as something of a love letter to Biddle himself. Both actors here were magnificent and their characters were easy to love. If well-acted, as the Canadian production is, it should fare quite well. It's well-worth a trip, based on the script alone.
