Audition Notice: The Hallelujah Girls by Jones, Hope & Wooten (Authors of Dearly Beloved, Christmas Belles, and Southern Hospitality)
Auditions will be held Saturday, October 2 at 2pm and Sunday, October 3 at 7pm at Towne Centre Theatre, 136 Frierson Street, Brentwood.
Auditions will consist of readings from the script. Sides are available on the Towne Centre Website Audition page at www.townecentretheatre.com and all those attending auditions should be prepared to read using the materials provided. Those interested in the role of Crystal should be prepared to sing, though singing talent is not a prerequisite for being cast in that particular role. Resume and headshot welcomed, but not required.

Character breakdown:
CARLENE (40s - 50s) - “a no-nonsense gal with a dry wit." Carlene is the center of the group, the straight-man in many of the interactions, an honest person
NITA (50s) - “sweet and simple country woman" Nita longs for a better life, lives vicariously through Harlequin romance novels, always tries to keep her chin up
MAVIS (60s) - “brusque but likable" Mavis is the mean old lady that everybody loves
CRYSTAL (40s - 50s) - "daffy and lovable" The dumb one. Sincere. Totally honest about everything.
SUGAR LEE (50s) - “vivacious" Our main character. Brassy and strong. Typical ideal of a southern woman. She's been through a lot and comes out stronger on the other side
BUNNY (50s) - “upbeat and seemingly pleasant; the passive aggressive self-proclaimed social arbiter” of the town. Antagonist to Sugar Lee. Wants nothing more than to stop Sugar Lee from being happy.
BOBBY DWAYNE (50s) - “rugged good looks; charming with a self-deprecating humor”. Bobby Dwayne was engaged to Sugar Lee as a young man. Been lost in all relationships since the engagement was broken.
PORTER (40s - 50s) - “good-hearted, gregarious blowhard”. Talks louder than most people and doesn’t know when to shut up. Typical southern Mamma’s Boy. Seeks relationship with Carlene.
