Ghostlight Records officially announced March 12 that it will release the original Broadway cast album of the new musical IN THE HEIGHTS June 3.
Steeped in Latin musical flavors and thumping with a hip-hop heartbeat, the score will be heard on two discs.
Playbill.com had previously reported the expectation of a Ghostlight recording. Expect 23 tracks.
The album producers are Andres Levin and Ghostlight founder Kurt Deutsch. Producer-composer Levin is a producer for many leading Latin and World music artists.
Recording sessions are set for March 23-24.

Two-Disc IN THE HEIGHTS Cast Album Will Record March 23-24 for June 3 Release
Oh.. That's great news! but why is it 2 disc? I'm wonderin....

Woo hoo! This is certainly happy news.
This news made. my. day!!
YAY!!!!!!!!
Holla
Why is it 2 discs? I don't understand the reasoning behind it, unless they have something special planned. They could easily fit 23 tracks on a single disc, right?
I'd love to see a behind the scenes footage vid for the making of the cd like they did with Legally Blonde on broadway.com...

Yeah, I'm puzzled about the 2-disk format too. I haven't seen in on Broadway, but I did see it last Summer. Sounds like there's going to be some padding here. What do I know?

Is it sung-through? or is the music easily mixed with the dialogue?
What ever happened to the song "hear me out" (i have the demo)I may see the show this weekend if i get lotto, where do you get lotto fr in the heights?
I am goin to NYC this weekend... YES i am a tourist but big suprise right... Well i really need to kno about lotto
when i saw the show (a few days before opening) Siempre wasn't in there, and No Me Diga (reprise) was a reprise of Piragua
I believe it is going to be a two-disc album because the show has a lot more than 90 minutes of music. They really don't want to cut anything out because the music is one of the best things about the show!
When does Passing Strange get the 2disc treatment!?!
is there anyplace where I can preorder it.?..besides the theaeter
You can order on this site but not as of yet...
Sh-k-boom Site
"when i saw the show (a few days before opening) Siempre wasn't in there, and No Me Diga (reprise) was a reprise of Piragua"
Siempre is the song that Camila sings along with in the dinner scene. The one that skips... coming back to you at all?
No Me Diga (reprise) was when Carla, Vanessa, and Daniela were closing up their salon for the last time. "I think that's all of the boxes. Tell me something I don't know..."
The reprise of Piragua is in the show as well as No Me Diga (Reprise). Piragua (Reprise) the song after the No Me Diga (Reprise.
If you preorder at the theatre or on the Sh-k-boom website would it be shipped June 3rd or whenever they start selling at the theatre?
What ever happened to the song "hear me out"?

"Hear Me Out" was cut after the show moved to broadway. I miss it, but I understand why they had to cut it.
Woohoo!
InThePark - I had actually preordered my Legally Blonde cd from the website and I got mine the day it was released - and I'm in CANADA! :) (And I'm pretty sure they had already been selling at the theatre.)
