I haven't seen it yet, but nearly every review was a rave. Since it only involves Jay Johnson and a few puppets, it'll be very inexpensive to run -- from a business perspective, it should do fine (and also have a solid shot at the Tony for "Unique Theatrical Experience" along with Dame Edna, Billy Crystal, Mario Cantone et al).
I saw Jay Johnson at Broadway at Bryant Park 7/22. I didn't know who he was then, but my mom recognized him from some show called "Soap."

Yeah, hilarious show from the 70's from Susan Harris (who also did the Golden Girls). It was a sort of take-off on the whole soap opera genre with two families and all of the crazy complications and plot twists and turns that go along with it. Katherine Helmond, Robert Guillaume (whose Benson character was spun off into his own long running series "Benson" also produced by Susan Harris), Billy Crystal (who played the gay brother Jodie, which, I believe was the first regular gay character ever on a weekly tv series), Richard Mulligan (later of Empty Nest -- yet another Susan Harris show), Robert Urich and so many other terrific actors were in the cast. Jay Johnson played Chuck (one of the brothers) who went everywhere with his ventriloquist dummy Bob (they always were dressed in identical outfits). The family tried to pretend that there was nothing odd about it and at times , Bob was simply another member of the family (who got away with saying the most outrageous things). A very funny show.
They had episodes on DVD at Walmart.
"Soap" rocked !!! One of the funniest shows ever !!
