My daughter has been using an old protable cassette recorder in rehearsals for years. Gift time is coming up, and with digital having some visible advantages, I thought I'd look into upgrading her recording tool. There are ones with flash, USB ports, etc. Does anyone have any experience with portable digital voice recorders in a musical theater setting? Are there quality/accuracy/battery life/other issues to consider? Is there a brand that beats the others for this application?
If she has an iPod this gadget could be useful. iTalk

I use my Dell Jukebox to record rehersals, but I find it difficult to listen to since I'm constantly driving. So I find a tape recorder more useful since you can record and then put it in your tape player instead of having to put it on a CD.
That would not be a problem with the iPod. With another inexpensive useful little gadget to play your recording in the car without having to burn it on a CD. iTrip
