VMAs and Broadway

Hey guys. I assume most of you saw the MTV awards last night. You know there was more Bway involved than ever before. Of course Jai was there. I thought his Angel was great...I've seen a lot of bad Angels and his one was of the better ones. Also whats up with P Diddy (and the back of his shirt) giving Gregory Hines a shout out? Were they buddies or something? Of course it was nice of him but what do Gregory Hines and Puffy have in common? Was it just props for a talented man? And finally...I was reading an article about the show written by Matthew Gilbert of the Boston Globe and look what he wrote..."Eminem good-naturedly goofed on his ill-humor toward Triumph the Insult Dog last year (another "Classic VMA Moment"), beating up a whiny puppet named Ed from the stage musical Avenue Q." Man is this guy clueless? First of all the puppet is not "whiny" he's meant to be special and secondly this puppet is from Crank Yankers not AveQ. I'll make sure he knows about this (I'll drop him an email to point out his inaccuracies). Anyway...thought ya'll would get a kick out of this.

Yeah--all over the press, they are crediting the puppets as from Avenue Q--my guess is that this is the fault of the Associated Press. Their article came out first with the error, and I think other writers are pulling their info from it.

I wonder how/if this will affect Avenue Q?

It may make people want to see it more.

true--but my fear is that people will think that Ave Q is that level of comedsy--when it is much classier than those puppets.

I tried to post this before but my computer stinks. Many of you may not realize that P Diddy is quite a talented tap dancer. I'm sure that Gregory Hines was a major factor in him learning tap, so therefore it was very fitting that he gave him a shout out at the VMA's. re: re: re: re: re: VMAs and Broadway

can't wait to see AVENUE Q---and there's no such thing as bad publicity (if they are confused with CRANK YANKERS). Don't forget Jai was also Zanna of ZANNA DON'T. i'm surprised he doesn't sing more on the TV show, or that the ZANNA producers haven't gotten a B'way engagement using his name. i heard they were trying to move their show to B'way. Actually, QUEER EYE and ZANNA have some things in common...light-hearted camaraderie between hets and homs as a starting point.
