Valentin in Kiss Of The Spider Woman
Valentin in Kiss Of The Spider Woman#1

I am looking for a vocal range for the character of Valentin in Kiss Of The Spider Woman..I don't have the libretto, only vocal selections. On the various recordings his songs are sung in different keys. Brian Mitchell only reaches for an F# in Marta whereas Crivello reaches for a pianissimo high A! Mitchell only reaches for a G in The Day After That. Crivello again a commendable baritone A.
Can anyone point me to a resource which provides this kind of
information or has the libretto and can check..I would like to know what the top note is in the song "Marta" or in the libretto that is released to regional theatres. Has it changed since Crivello's version?

Hello All, I have been a mostly lurker on this board since its inception. This thread caught my eye. A libretto sometimes does contain music. I am directing production of THE FULL MONTY, and the libretto's from MTI have the script in the front and music (just vocals) in the back.
Have a great day!

Posted: 2/23/07 at 2:37amThe licensed version of the score does indeed contain the high A where you specified, but the rest of Valentin's tessitura is considerably lower (in a baritone/baritenor range.) As for the score, I don't know that it is available--try Colony Records on 49th Street.
