Ok.. After listening to the funky YouTube recordings. I really think that this show could be a contender for Best Music and Lyrics. Each song has its own thing going and although I don't know how they play into the story They seem to tell a story. Plus many are catchy Right now my favorites are "Same ol Music" and " Were gonna be okay"
I'm not familiar with the composer . But, would be interested in listening to some of his other tunes to see how they compare.
Any Broadway world thoughts on this?
The songs that will win this show a TONY (or at least get it nominated) will be:
Fly Into The Future
Cute Boys With Short Haircuts
The latter being, IMHO, possibly one of the greatest female songs ever written in musical theatre. It's absolutely stunning.
I really hope this show does well. the cast is excellent, the story is touching, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Anneliese proves ONCE again that she is one of the greatest talents musical theatre has to offer, and I hope she gets all the recognition she deserves. WHAT A VOICE....and she can dance, and her acting is top notch to boot.
All three women really are excellent, but it truly becomes her show.
Could this be a shill for a show that isn't opened yet?
God, shut up! Stop accusing everyone that likes a show and says something about it of being a shill. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean other people won't like it.

ya know. "Cute Boys..." is fantastic.. I also noticed at the begining of "Hey there beautiful..." something sounded thematic with the end of " Let life happen".. Can someone explain it to me without *spoiling* ?
Will there be changes before NY ?

Oh shut up. It's pretty obv by this person's username and registration date that they joined TODAY specifically to initiate discussion about the show. Whether they work for the show/producers or are simply irate fans remains to be seen.

yes. I joined today. Is that a problem? On my other message board we welcome new members and encourage their participation. If you haven noticed many shows seem to be closing so perhaps fans for new shows will encourage others to chat about it. Did you accuse the Shrek fan or TOS fan of the same?
I will change my name to "couldbaVanmusicfan" since I havent seen the show but do enjoy the music... will that work for you?
So by the same token I guess you are an actor that didnt get cast in it thats why you are so accusatory . Well, theres a seat in the audience for you and lots of room here to chat about it. Personally, Im excited about all of the new shows coming. This ones music seems to grab me..

Well, according to Anneliese's Myspace (which is the only place where Vanities updates are coming from as of lately) re-writes are currently taking place. People who saw the show in Pasadena were asked to send their opinions of the show, etc.
So, most likely there will be some changes.
