When Michael Ball sang Vaults of Heaven at the Royal Albert Hall celebration I was speechless. Evertime I see the clip on Youtube I tear up. I wish he would record that song.

I was shocked at how only a few people knew he was singing Empty Chairs... at the beginning and it wasn't til he actually sang Empty Chairs at Empty tables that the other people got it!

Now my friends are dead and gone.
I love when MB sings anything anywhere
I prefer the Tom Jones version, he seems to pull off the "gospel" element of the song better. I love Michael Ball but when he gets into the song and starts swinging around i always break out laughing.
"Cue Schmerg in 3... 2... 1...."
Oh dear, I'm getting predictable in my old age. But yeah, I love watching that video. It's so adorably cheesy. I like when he does that stupid dance and the women in the chorus try to keep straight faces. (Though my little brother is always singing that song in the shower, and it's more and more irritating each time.) I also love his crazy over-the-top version of "Oh What A Circus" and, um, everything else ever.
I like Michael's rendition of that song as well.

He has sung the definitive version of Sunset Boulevard for me too!
I have to bashfully agree. The weird thing is, I always loved Alan Campbell's, John Barrowman's, and even Hugh Jackman's versions, then I heard Mr. Ball's version and I thought, "Ugh, he didn't do so well on this song... can't believe he pronounced it 'boooolevard." But going back to watch the other version that I'd loved before, I suddenly didn't like them at all. Now I watch Michael Ball's version like once a week, "Boooolevard" and all.
He also does my favourite "All I Ask Of You" by far. I have the solo version from one of his albums on my iPod... I feel like if he were the best-known Raoul, the poor character wouldn't get so much hate. He's so convincing as Raoul.
I just realized, it's really weird that already people are associating my name with being a MB fangirl... I've only been a member of this site for a little over a month. Yikes, am I really that obsessive?

I especially love the "rehearsal performance" (with his trio doing PEOPLE, CRAZY, LOSING MY MIND and MY FUNNY VALENTINE) on the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall DVD (out in the U.K.) - terrific stuff!
Yes, that little jam session is a lovely little extra!
