Victor Garber Godspell Appreciation

I really did not like the movie and the only slight problem I had in the brilliant video production of "Sweeney Todd" was 'Anthony' and 'Johanna' (well, Betsy Joslyn's 'Johanna' pissed me off to be honest). I saw Garber's 'Anthony' on Broadway and thought he was brilliant and I also enjoyed Sarah Rice as 'Johanna'. Betsy Joslyn and Cris Groenendaal were no comparison to them. I've also seen Garber in "Noises Off", "Lend Me A Tenor" and "Arcadia" and I've enjoyed him each of those performances.

Count me in as one who had the pleasure of seeing A Little Night Music in LA. Victor Garber was among the members of a first rate cast in a beautiful production. I look forward to another live performance from the talented Mr. Garber, hopefully in the near future.
Godspell was a most interesting movie. I loved the many locations in NYC and seeing the World Trade Center scene was quite an eerie experience. Regarding the 'fro' -- I understand it was all his naturally curly hair, too! Coming from someone from that time period, I remember it was quite the style of the day -- an "equal opportunity hairstyle" regardless of race, religion, etc.

Garber also used to teach acting class at HB Studios.
When Garber was in Damn Yankees on Broadway, he would often entertain the audience at curtain calls by doing an impression of Glenn Close in "Sunset Boulevard" (she was playing down the street). At his final performance, the cast urged him to do the impression. The cast had secretly arranged for Glenn Close to walk up behind him onstage while he was doing it. Classic theater prank!

Posted: 12/19/04 at 2:18pmI really love Godspell. My school (a very small one lol) just did it. People said it was the best we've ever done. I played Judas :). We set it in "sort of" present day, in a junk yard somewhere near NYC. It was awesome. We had this whole wall with grafitti on it, and at the end it lit up in the shape of a cross. The audience was blown away. Then we carried him down the aisle (Jesus). Its the kind of show that can actually "change a person". Maybe not their life, but it makes them think and feel. I mean all shows have a little bit of that, this one just stands out for me. I also love Victor Garber. He is so talented. I really want to direct The Wizard of Oz on broadway when I'm old enough, he would be my first choice as the Wizard. I personally think he would make a great Wizard in Wicked.

He's over twice my age and I'd still do him. Canadians are known to be tigers in bed.

Jon, you forgot the wonderful Jeffrey Mylett, who is also no longer with us.
I think Victor's very sexy. If he were younger, I'd marry him instantly. Even if he's gay. I'd still marry him.

Marquise, darling - if you see the "Alias" fan boards - I haven't seen such squealing over a gay man since the last time I visited the Kevin Spacey boards!

Not married, no...though the Alias girls all dream that he would marry one of them...and we'd do well to keep the news of his sexual orientation away from those poor kids...
Let's not burst their bubble :)
Seriously, Garber has been out for years but is a private person and doesn't advertise his sexuality in the press.
