It's probably positive that N2N is sparking these kinds of discussions. I've posted on this before, and I'll give it one more try here: I liked Next to Normal a lot at Second Stage, but the ending was ridiculous and I'll be at the Booth in a few weeks to give it another viewing. As amazing as it is to see topics like bipolar and even ADD (in "Distracted") tackled on the New York stage, I share Foster's concerns and don't understand why a happy, uplifting Broadway ending has to be medication-free, when it ain't like that in real life.
One of the worst things the internet has given us is the ability to say the ugliest things to each other while hiding behind cute pseudonyms and avatars. Recently, on the other theater board, a well-known actress took a stand against this crap and signed her name to the post. She has a point...because this bashing is really cowardly.
