Watch the time-lapse of Studio 54 being transformed for CABARET
This is semi-off topic (and please, excuse my ignorance) but seeing this show a couple weeks ago was the first time either me or my boyfriend were at Studio 54, and we both had the same thought: that the decor/ornamentation (proscenium, ceiling, etc.) was pretty fancy for a night club. Was this installed by Roundabout upon taking over the space?

Are you speaking of the theatre itself or are you speaking of the set design? The building was originally a traditional theatre (Gallo Theatre, 1927) and was remodeled/transformed by Steve Rubell and Ian Schrager into the Studio 54 nightclub in 1977. In 1994 Allied Partners bought the building and restored much of the architectural detail that had been painted black or covered with plywood by Schrager and Rubell.
Ah, ok. I thought it was originally a club, which is why I was confused. Thank you.
