Can we just take a moment to bring a Tony treasure video clip to the discussion?
If you want to see musical staging at its finest. Musical theatre actors at their finest. Choreography reminiscent of the Golden Age. What we can't find on Broadway anymore but what some of us long to see again...

Brent Barrett and Michael Jeter busting Tommy Tune's moves.
I've got tears in my eyes. Michael Jeter was just unbelievable and irreplaceable. What heart. What skill. I'm listening to "Grand Hotel" right now (while transcribing an interview with co-composer/lyricist Maury Yeston, coming soon!) and just needed to see this again.
The music is unbeatable. How I wish I wasn't a mere 7 years old when this musical premiered. I'd have given anything to see it in-person with this incredible cast. Hats off to the talent of Michael and Brent.

Jeter was just wonderful. I get chills watching this video.
And his acceptance speech is truly fantastic and touching.
Michael Jeter's acceptance specch.

Michael Jeter's performance was sublime in Grand Hotel. No other actor in the role came close to making the character as endearing as Jeter did.
May he rest in peace.

Posted: 1/19/08 at 7:18pmThere is nothing quite like watching that clip. It IS musical theatre.
With Clay Aiken in Spamalot, all of Broadway is singing a collective "There! Right! There!" -Me-
"Not Barker, Todd is the only person I've ever known who could imitate Katherine Hepburn...in print." -nmartin-
