namo, thanks for the chuckle but i'm not basing anything i write on one article. and i don't have an investment in the production other than wanting it to do well and wondering how some of the "disappointing" articles will affect AIA, if at all.

it's great that you're so passionate about it but writing about how a show is received is not negative. i didn't create the system or report the numbers, i'm just observing what i think as interesting as to the "media spin" if you will on a successfully adapted play and what it would/could mean to future productions.

"other than it do well...?" It has done extraordinarily. What more can be asked of a film? It will exist for time immemorial. Again, I think you are applying standards for "doing well" that are pretty much irrelevant in the world of subscription TV.

How can AiA be "affected" by what is said about it? It's not going to "close" like a theatrical presentation, because not enough people are going to see it.

One headline on a Washington Post article does not "media spin" make. The sum total of the "media spin" generated about this production thus far equals a hurricane of positivity.

again, i read more than one article talking about "disappointing" numbers for AIA. in wanting it to do well, i'm referring to whatever measures are necessary to ensure hbo continues to produce shows like AIA in the future. if emmys is all it takes, great. if the adaptation's quality alone will serve, also great.

Again. I never said of HBO "that they pay absolutely no attention to" ratings. I said I am sure they would LOVE to have won the night with a three hour, deep epic about AIDS in the era of Reagan. As if THAT is a possibility in this country!

And again, you compare series that are cancelled to a two part miniseries. Not applicable.

Oz was ended by its producer, Tom Fontana, not because its ratings were low.
