So I'm going to New York two weeks from today (YAY!!!!). I will be staying with my friend, who has lived in New York for almost two years, but I want to have some type of game plan. A few questions:
1. What sights would you guys recommend I check out? For me, Carrie Bradshaw's front stoop is a MUST, but what else? (I can't do the SATC tour because I will only be in the city Monday-Friday.) Also, since I'm looking at moving there sometime in the future, what neighborhoods would be good to look at? (As far as recommending shows, I already made a post on that a few weeks ago.)
2. Even though I'm staying with a friend, is it worth it to buy a NYC guidebook?
Thanks for all your help.
The only guidebook that si possibly getting would be "The Best Things to do in New York" by Caitlin Leffel and Jacob Lehman, as a New Yorker myself I found tons of interesting ideas. But it probably istn worth buying for just one short trip.
I have NO CLUE where carrie's stoop is but if you know where it is, awesome. There is a really long thread about things to do in NY that has tons of ideas. i will look for it for you.

here you go. There is tons of info on there hope it helps.
Mealz1042, if I remember right the address is in my Sex and the City: Kiss and Tell book. In it there's a huge list of where they shot a bunch of scenes.
You should buy the NFT guide (Not for tourist) on New York CIty. It really helped me out for my trip. I think they sell it at most bookstores, virgin, etc.
good to know
thanks.
so yeah read through that thread and let me (or anyone else) know if you have any specific questions.
A map of the subway system helped me on my 1st trip. And a walk through Central Park is always a must.
