I believe it is a screen.

Why should anyone be confused about a WHITE CHRISTMAS marquee up in August? I've already received fliers in the mail for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular and NYC Ballet's NUTCRACKER. (And I've already started my Christmas shopping!)
The colors work well for the placement of the marquee. While it's a bland marquee, the colors really pop in Times Square.
Glad to see the Marquee is up.
Now, when do individual tickets go on sale?
Speaking of Christmas, last years Radio City show was taped & is available on DVD starting in November
It was the best one I can remember & I look forward to buying it.
it's about time this one made it to Broadway. I caught the world premiere in SF, 2004, and think it's probably the best legit Xmas musical out there. Nothing against GRINCH but no Broadway show at Broadway prices should have 11 performances a week. WHITE XMAS is the real deal.

my guess is they were just eager to take down the CRY BABY marquees.....and maybe it looks unsightly to have a blank Marquee?
just my two cents.
I think it looks cute!

I don't see anything wrong with this.this means they will do really good on there presales.
Definitely makes sense for this to be up early...they only have a small window of time that audiences are going to see the show, so it's best to get the word out now. This tells summer tourists they might have something to look forward to if they come back in the winter.
Very nice marquee, by the way!

The Cry Baby marquee was still up when I was there earlier this week. It looks great!
Looks nice !! Wow, is the show really 3 hrs !? (Just heard that on NY1)
It's like 2.5 hours. I saw it in Boston. Fun show.
I cannot help but to think if white xmas did not have this venue, I suggest Dr Streuss would of been in here, if they thought they could secure a venue.
So I guess Dr Streuss thought it coud not secure a venue, so opted to do the out of New York option.
Yeah I think its close to 3 hours. I saw it in Toronto last year and while it has a creaky old book, I probably loved it because it had a creaky book and it put me in the perfect Christmas mood.
I hope Kate Baldwin returns to do this. She was amazing (and amazing in She Loves Me in Boston). It would be cool if Tony Yasbeck could take time off from Gypsy to go back to this but wonder if he would.
It is a bit on the long side but it didn't feel like it to me. The book felt pretty true to the film, maybe a bit clunky but appropriate for the genre. It's all about the musical numbers, which are glorious and numerous. Wonder who they will cast. Obviously BDJ can't do it- maybe Bogardus. Broadway needs some Bogardus, and he's got a few productions of the show under his belt. I wouldn't be surprised if they got a few of the original leads, maybe Anastasia or Denman if they're free.

Mentioned on NY1 ("On Stage") that they are most likely going for a very big name .
I admit to loving EVERYTHING Christmas related so I'm so happy that the marquee is up and it does look great in Times Square!
I'm really looking forward to seeing this show.
Testing: Did NY1 specifically mention the "very big name" as the "Martha Watson" role...or the "Bob Wallace" (former d'Arcy James) role? I love Bogardus, and I'm hoping he can still do the role. Denman & Patterson are confirmed.
I wonder if they've exhausted the "older Hollywood legends" angle for the older woman (there aren't many of these older song-and-dance broads left).
I'm with Matt : WHITE CHRISTMAS is the best Xmas stage musical there is. It's one of the best film-to-stage adaptations, too.
I must have walked past there 3 times the other day, and didn't notice that. It's cute, though.

They didnt mention the part, but they did mention Meryl Streep.
EDIT: Streep was mentioned for the "A:OC" movie, not "White Christmas"-
