Any unofficial news/gossip as to who will be replacing Bean and Hilty when the tour hits Providence?? I'm just so thrilled Bean is leaving...good person, but I can't even understand how she would even get a second audition with the performances she gives as Elphaba. Wow.
Suggestion: Add a question mark to your subject header. Otherwise it looks like you're offering info, not asking for it.
and believe me. as a new member, the last thing you want to do is come on this board bashing Shoshana Bean. you can and will get attacked.
don't say I didn't warn you.

Just out of curiosity, what do you do in the business?
Lizzie:
I totally agree with you!
Not to thread jack, but actually we don't ALL work in the business--I'm an English teacher who loves theatre and considers it a hobby and avocation. I don't know what "working in the business" has to do with anything.

I'm with you, sidney...not everyone here works in the business.
All due respect, there are a lot of people here who I would guess haven't gotten their first paper route yet, let alone make a living in showbiz...which is why we should all take what shows up here with a big old honking grain of salt.
We are the people that give the business...business
Ok back to the thread. Does anyone actually know who will be the new Glinda and Elphaba on tour??

If you work in the business then why do you have to ask that question on a message board?
First rule of the business: Don't talk about the business.
Kellyanna2, there are people on this site who will gladly eat you for lunch for your opening comment. It has been my experience (and I work in the film business, no longer in the theatre business) that Shoshanna Bean is considered just one small step or two down from the apparently sainted Idina Menzel (insert reverent echo effect here) and the absolutely deserving Sutton Foster.
I'm glad you have found some form of work in the business (I create motion pictures, what, exactly do you do?) and I would hope that your experience in "the business" would show you it is unwise to enter an audition and leave a turd on the director's chair, which you may have just done here.
Oh, and I actually don't like Wicked that much, but I thought Shoshanna's performance was wonderful.
Guess "the business" takes all kinds, huh......?

its always fun to bash someone with an opinion.. especially when it doesnt match your own..
Personally , I prefer the performances of some of the other Elphabas.. not to say that SB doesnt have a lovely voice...
--the great thing about ART is that we are all right!!
hahahah in the business.. and this makes you an expert on everything? you dolt! btw bean is pretty talented.. and I hope they replace bean with RAVEN SYMONE!! just so you can enjoy someone other that Bean in Providence! ugh such a snob!
While I prefer other Elphaba's...namely Idina and Julia...I think it's pretty apparent that Shoshana does have an amazing voice, sings the score well and did not try to emulate Idina's interpretaion, which would have been easy to do.
Not my personal cup of tea but no deying she can sing and deserved the praise she got for the part.
I'm all for different opinions. Although I personally loved Shoshana in the part, I can understand why some didn't. But it's HIGHLY unnecessary to come on this board, on your first day mind you, and say she should of never recieved a second audition (which, by the way, I highly doubt she had to audition for the tour).
And then to top it off--you work in the business? Ok...people who typically work in the business don't state they work in the business, nevertheless THREE times. Most of us here are in the business, but you don't see us stating that after every thread.
Actually, Willact4food, most of us don't mention we work in the biz (unless we get really worked up) because we'll get out asses reamed for blabbing on a chat site.
I was talking to a very interesting guy on a subway a few days ago and suddenly realized he was one of the big names on this site. Hope I didn't say anything too embarassing...

I would look for them to name replacements late November or early December. I know that they havent yet cast it. Also, look for them to cast completely new people.
