I would pay to see Michelle Federer in WICKEDER.
Spork, that seems pretty on target, although I'm not sure I agree about The Hunger Games. Let's see how they do with the sequel and then we'll talk. Let's just not talk about turning The Hunger Games into a musical, ha ha.
Oh wow, I just realized this thread has gone totally off topic, but in this case, that's a good thing.

"Odds! the hunger games musical"
The scary thing is if memory serves, someone already brought up the possibility of a Hunger Games musical a few months back. Then again, that person was probably 13.
I love Wicked the musical. And I like the Wicked Years series. But a sequel to Wicked the musical would not work, nor is it needed.
Let them remain their own separate entities. Son of a Witch was hard to get through and I found A Lion Among Men to be a much more interesting story. I haven't gotten to read Out of Oz yet.
The Princess Bride as a film is arguably better than the novel as well.
The Wicked novel is brilliant. One of my lit theses in high school was focused on the political allegory and ethical ramifications in Wicked and it's still a paper that I'm proud to resurface and share every now and again.
I made it through half of Son of a Witch before giving up. The depth that made Wicked so special just wasn't there. Maybe I'll revisit the series again someday.

I can't get more than about 50 pages into SON OF A WITCH. It's awful!
I read WICKED before the musical came out. It was great. She didn't necessarily "die" in the end of the novel. Don't forget Maguire's clever little coda:
"And there the wicked old Witch stayed for a good long time."
"And did she ever come out?"
"Not yet."
With that said, I in no way condone a sequel to the musical WICKED.
"Is there any adaptation (stage or film) of a novel that's better than the novel? I can't think of one..."
The Stardust movie was an absolutely magical adaptation of simply good book.
Has there been a sequel to a musical that was a success?
