WICKED in London- No Cast Recording

Hi everyone
I hope this hasnt been discussed, but I came across the WICKED cast recording on the UK website for the show
The sell the Broadway cast CD, but with the London artwork as the cover
So yeah, I know some people were wondering about that, so I assume they wont be making an OLCR

It is still undecided, posibbly they may do one after indina leaves.

Making a recording after Idina leaves would be best, considering no one really wants to hear her again on another CD of the same show. I really want Kerry Ellis to be a part of the Cast Recording, if one is made so that all of the little fan girls who think Idina's way of singing is the only way learn that you can sing in your own style! It kills me to hear a bunch of girls at talent shows and such butcher a song trying to sing like Kristin or Idina!

Yeah, I have also heard they might make one after Idina leaves at the end of the year. I would love to hear Kerry Ellis on the CD!

Candleshoe -- no offense, but I guarantee that a new recording with Idina would sell better than one with Kerry Ellis. Your use of the phrase 'no one' is vastly inaccurate.

Every preview (last one tonight) has received a standing ovation in London. If there was a London cast recording with Idina Menzel - it would sell here. Helen Dallimore's different take on Glinda would sell it too!

I don't think it matters who's on it, if it's Wicked, people will buy it.

IF Idina WAS on the cast recording, I wouldn't be upset. I understand that she has improved and is highly regarded in the West End, but it would just be nice to hear someone new. Even if Idina is on it, I would still enjoy the rest of the talented cast.

I don't think there'll be one, tbh. I mean, I have three different 'Les Miserables' recordings with Michael Ball as Marius so the music people obviously aren't too fussed about using the same people as long as the CDs sell (and they did, as evidenced by the fact I own all three

). Plus the fact you can buy the OBCR with the London artwork? I really doubt there'll be one. Not for a few years, if at all.

I'm sure there'd be a ton of people who would re-buy it. It's a HUGE freakin' hit. It will sell.

I agree with RentBoy, but people need to stop comparing a recording of the show with Menzel to any recording of Les Miserables with the same principals (i.e. Frances Ruffelle, Colm Wilkinson). Elphaba is the star of Wicked, Les Miserables is more of an ensemble piece where many of the major numbers belong to characters who only have a couple of solos or duets (i.e. Fantine, Eponine, Cosette). It is absurd to compare two cast recordings of Wicked with the same actress playing Elphaba with a cast recording of Les Miserables with the same actor playing any given role.

Wouldn't highlights be a bit pointless, as I'm sure the whole thing can fit on one CD?

ugh....my love for Idina and my want for a new cast recording are battling eachother....Would love to hear Idina again...but i think someone new would be best.

How can they see with sequins in their eyes?

You'd love to hear Idina again? Doing what? Buy two OBC of Wicked, it would be the same thing. Nothing has changed musically in the show. I would rather have a recording to hear OTHER people sing it. It really gets on my nerves when I show friends clips of other people singing Wicked songs and they're like "Oh, I don't like her as much as I like Idina." Just because she's on the freakin recording doesn't me she is the end all of Wicked. She is great, but I've heard just as good and in some cases cough:Saycon:cough better.

If they were to record the London Cast, do you think they would do a 2 disc recording without the cuts that they made on the OBC recording (Not just the Wicked Witch of the East was cut, there were cuts in every number).

I would love one...I think it would sell too but the OBCR will sell here (especially as we have Idina here) too so what would be the point? In their eyes I mean...

I would love one with Kerry Ellis on, lets just keep our fingers crossed...

I would LOVE a new sound...i know if it were a new recording but it had Idina on it, i wouldnt buy it...b/c i allready have her "cleaned up" in one allready...i'm dying for Kerry Ellis...oh and a recording with out cuts would be outstanding...i'd love to here the pro-clean sound of "IT'S MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"...that would make my life...and Wicked Witch of the East would be GREAT too!!!!!!!!

yeah, it'd be kinda really silly for them to do another one with idina (as much as I LURVE her, I've got the obcr for my idina!elphie fix hehe). I'd be curious to hear Kerry! I mean I have a feeling I'd still prefer idina, but it'd still be cool to have another proffesional recording available!

I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.
