I got tickets to see the matinée performance of WICKED this Saturday simply because I was/am dieing to see Kerry Ellis as Elphaba. Of course, with my luck Julie Reiber will be on for the matinée, now, don't get me wrong, I'm very excited about seeing Julie but I still really want to see Kerry!
So, I have decided to enter the WICKED lotto for the evening performance and I have a few questions...
1) It says get to the Gershwin at 6:30, should I really get there then or a little earlier?
2) When I did the YF lotto I entered my name right away which ultimately screwed me over because they did not shuffle the names (I know this because everyone who entered right away lost and everyone who entered last minutely won), so at what point should I enter my name, in the beginning or towards the end?
Thank you everyone so much for all your help!
I always enter my name sooner rather than later.
Time doesn't matter I don't think. They mix it up at Wicked. I just have to say Good Luck
The time doesn't matter, since they draw names at random. But, they start taking names 2.5 hours before the show (which would be 5:30) and draw them two hours before the show (which would be 6). So I wouldn't show up at 6:30 or you'll have missed the lotto.
Ok, thanks so much.
bwaydoc, I have no idea why I put 6:30, I knew it was two hours before I guess I must have just had a little brain freeze, but my math isn't that bad, lol

Well your question has been answered, so I just want to say good luck! I won the lottery in April and it was an amazing experience being in the front row!
Oh, thank you. I really do hope I win, but only time will tell.
So...wait. Is this a one time thing or is there now a matinee Elphie? (sorry to threadjack)

Please, don't apologize at all, it's a very good question! To my knowledge, officially there is not. But in general, Kerry has not yet performed both shows on a two show day. Most of the time she has not performed the matinée but on her second day she missed the evening show and every other time she has missed the matinée.
OK, thanks. Interesting. But on say a Sunday where there's just one show, barring illness or inury she should be in? We got tickets for my sister and my birthday ~ at this point she'll see it with my mom and I'll do something with my Dad unless we win lotto ~ for a Sunday. I'm sure she'll be cool with whoever. I'm just curious.

Julie or Chelsea doing the matinee is just a temporary thing, due to time needed to settle in and being not well enough to do 8 shows a week. You should be good on a Sunday.

Oh, so it isn't just a coincidence, that's good to know. I knew Kerry was having a little bit of voice, so this explains it.
Kerry Ellis, are you actually Kerry Ellis? I know Becky Gulsvig has a BWW user name that is her actual name. If you are, I just want to say... I absolutely adore you and think your amazing. Also, I totally hope I get to see you at some point before you leave New York (hopefully this Saturday if I win the lotto *fingers crossed*)
How many people usually show up at the lotto nowadays?

I did the lotto on Wednesday, and put my name in at the very beginning. They must shuffule, because I actaully won!
Of course, my joy was short-lived... since my name was the last one picked, they could only give us one ticket, instead of the two I put down for. Since neither my sister or I could bring ourselves to be selfish enough to take it, we had to give it up. I was actually pretty annoyed... I wish they had just picked another name, of someone who had put down for one ticket. Getting so close and yet so far was really irritating.
Oh, and it was Rentheaed, it was PACKED! I'm really bad at guessing numbers, but it was litearlly swarming with people.
