Do all the traveling WICKED shows have their own live orchestras or is the music "computer generated?" Thanks for answering this ignorant question----

Computer Generated?

Yes, Wicked has a live orchestra.

All touring shows I have seen do...

At least with Los Angeles, they usually hook up with the local theater pit that is affiliated with the particular theater hosting the show. I have a family friend that was in the pit for Wicked last time, and is just hoping to get on for the extended run.

They may use some pre-recorded tracks, but mostly I think, live, at least from the tour stop I saw.

I know that they don't use a pre-recorded track. They have a traveling orchestra (which is small) and then they have a local orchestra which they use in every city they stop in.

I was on tour with the Equity production of Tommy, and we used a live orchestra. Also a friend of mine is in the tour and they DO in fact use a live orchestra

Is there anyone else out there who likes the tour's orchestration more than Broadway? Aside from having less musicians, many cues and flourishes were re-orchestrated (more brass) and I think it sounds great.

And of all the touring shows, Wicked would most likely have a live orchestra.

However, they do use Kristin Chenoweths pre recorded high notes at the end of Thank Goodness

in the chicago production, kate loprest, glinda understudy, sings those high notes in "thank goodness" from up on the overhead tram from her ensemble track.
