Hey!
I am in the process right now of getting tickets for WICKED in August and there are a few nights where "Partial View" seats are available usually in the first few rows...are there any real disadvantages to these tickets? Usually the only ones available are these or like REAR REAR Mezzanine.
Any suggestions? Experiences? And what ticket program do you use that is most reliable?
I am using TicketMaster...
And please, I don't care about your opinions of the show, just the ticket situation! Haha!
Thanks!

REAR REAR MEZZANINE WOULD NOT BE BAD. ANY SEAT AT THE GERSHWIN THEATRE IS GOOD. IM NOT SURE EXACTLY WHAT YOU MISS WITH PARTIAL VIEW, SORRY. BUT THERE REALLY ISNT A BAD SEAT IN THE HOUSE. AND I HAVE USED TICKETMASTER TWICE FOR WICKED, IT IS RELIABLE. IT IS ONE OF THE LARGEST TICKET COMPANIES, SO I DONT THINK YOU HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THAT. Updated On: 7/7/04 at 01:02 PM

I'd go for further back and more central view than the extreme sides in the orchestra. They're OK seats but you can't see the back of the stage so miss about 20% of the grand Wicked settings.
Well! I just ordered them!
Sat. August 7th. 2:00pm.
Row H, ORCH, seat 27
I'm happy I could get a ticket this late! Yikes!
Seem good?

Does anyone else think ticketmaster's seat plans suck and aren't detailed enough? I have the "Seats" book woth every seat plan in the NY area but I don't know where a beter one could be accessed online.
I like Playbill.com's seating charts and the ones here:

This has NOTHING to do with Wicked, so forgive me, but bdwaygirl... your icon is the sexiest thing ever. *swoons*
:::waving smelling salts::: You o.k.? LOL!! Couple years ago, I picked out all the pictures, my friend arranged them on the computer and put it on a mouse pad. Sometimes I think I need to update the pictures and do a new one, but then I think NAH!!!!
O.K. Back to Wicked.

yup, I'm ok! My desktop background on my computer is a big collage of pictures of Raul Esparza... my friend made it for me. Eventually I'll make an Adam one... perhaps combine the two.
Bagh!
The seating chart made it look like the seat 27 was deffinitely NOT the last one in the row...ah well...it was either that or BB seat 6....
please tell me everything will be ok!!!
=(
BB6 is a better seat if you need to see facial expressions, which are pretty much lost after ORCH F or so. Otherwise, it's fine.
So...for those of you who have been in the Gershwin Theatre...are their "partial view" tickets because you cannot see ALL of the stage, or because there will be big frickin' pillars in my way...
meh?
...paully
Not pillars... cogs :) They don't block much, and the further back the seats are, the less you miss.
I have BB5 orchestra which i think is front row LAST seat on the side. How will my view be?
BB5 is amazing :)
Cog?
How is that different than a pillar?
Wait..back up...
What's a cog?
haha.
But A TICKET is better than NO tickets....right? Meh!

Paul,
The cogs being referred to can be seen in this photo. Just look at the bottoms of the false proscenium.... the gears.
I'm going on August 12 and I have orchestra row E 23& 25. Please tell me how much you miss when you go. I just hope I can see Idina on the defying gravity number. I went once but she was out. Espinosa was awesome. I just HAD to go again to try and see Idina after hearing the CD!
OOOooo that makes me feel SO much better about the seats! Better a cog than a pillar.
When my sister and I saw RENT in Chicago about 5 years ago, we had 3rd row Mezz seats, but right in front of my sister was a pillar that held up the 2nd mezz and our tickets were both full price!
She was lucky we were related because I let her "lean" into my seat for the entire show!
thaaanks.
no pillars.
thank Oz.

Good for you! I was nervous too about partial view but since I saw it from center orchestra already I was ok with missing a few things, especially if its scenery. Does anyone think I'll miss Idina or any of the actors doing any of the main numbers from my Row E 23/25 seat?
I've seen the show twice from the rear balcony and once in partial view: you miss a lot with partial view! And in "Defying Gravity," you almost completely miss the raising of Idina, which is possibily the most exciting moment in the show. I really enjoyed those seats while I watched it, but when I saw what I missed...Bring binoculars for facial expressions (balcony is cheaper too).

Does anyone know what row the front mezzanine overhangs? are there good seats up there? can you see any facial expressions? Is it better to be higher or lower?
