WILL I BE HEARING THE SAME SWEENEY IN NOVEMBER?

Im sitting here listening to the OBC and it occurred to me... I know the orchestrations are diff but it is the full score correct, not truncated or anything? any help is appreciated.

Holy caps lock, Batman. Doubtful you'll hear anything if you talk as loudly as you type. re: WILL I BE HEARING THE SAME SWEENEY IN NOVEMBER? ::rimshot::

I don't believe anyone knows for sure as previews haven't even begun yet.

In general, the people who have seen the London version that this revival is based upon said that it's the entire show and I would expect that it will be the same score and book with minimal changes.

patronus, i apologize for the caps... im a caps junkie, slowly weaning myself off though. i did smile at the batman reerence though. and it occurred to me when i hit post messsage, that many people are in the same boat. thanks for the response though.

I am ten-times amazing excited for this production. I'm just such a big fan of "Sweeney" and have faith in Sondheim's original words and music that I hardly find myself disappointed with any adaptation I see. Plus, Michael and Patti are an amazing and eloquent pair together... totally breath-taking in "Passion." Plus, everyone loves a murder-musical!

i have incredible faith in the score , one of my all time favs. thats where my worry comes from; im all for a new production, the skeptic in me just cringes at the thought the score could be ruined through the way its presented.

The critics who were fans of this production in London felt that the music is BETTER served in this production then in, say, an opera house setting because the emphasis is now on the lyrics not the orchestrations.

ahh, that is an interesting concept. i have an intimate knowledge of the OBC and the dvd with hearn and lansbury. i always when i did end up seeing sweeney todd, it would be that kind of staging. however, i recently read that sondheim was unhappy with the grandiose nature of prince's staging-- it was written for a smaller setting... so that knowledge coupled with what you said starts to put things in a different perspective.
