War Horse Intermission Set Change?

I saw the national tour of War Horse in Nashville last night. Great production!

I noticed that during intermission the stagehands set up the "barricades" in the orchestra pit. Do they wait until intermission at every performance or was it just because last night was the first performance, and is there a technical reason for waiting until intermission (except that action doesn't take place there until Act Two)? Thanks!

Been a while now, but I recall them setting something up during intermission at Lincoln Center...

I saw the touring production twice, in two different cities. Both times they set up the barricades during intermission.

I'm curious is it normal for them to have people seated in the front row get up during intermission while they make the change in every city?
I saw it in Toronto the rush seats were in the front row and at intermission they made everyone get up so they could make the change.

You would have hated the stage seats at spring awakening lol

I don't recall seeing the front row audience displaced in Nashville. But they had a fairly large pit area to work with.

When I saw the production in Pittsburgh they did the set change during intermission as well. I was also in the front row for the production.

Speaking of this tour, it was announced today that it is officially closing in the fall.
