I too was reared on reruns of "classics," and I Love Lucy was always one of my favorites. Lucille Ball was absolutely brilliant. RIP.
She is truly wonderful.

Wow. I had no idea that today was the day. She is really incredible. I can't believe it's already been 16 years. May she continue to live on in our hearts.
I love her too
*looking trough things to find my picture with her and her daughter*
If only I had a picture of me with her. But, sadly, she passed when I was three.
I was her daughters dresser for a benefit in LA and Lucy came to see the show. As she walked down the stairs into the backstage area, EVERYTHING just stopped. (OMG, LUCILLE BALL!)
She croaked out, "All of you kids were just amazing tonight."
I got a picture with Lucy and Lucille and it's one of my treasured items. She passed just months after that.
I think I would have passed out.

I think in honor of Lucy, we should all say what our favourite episode of I Love Lucy is
Mine, Grapes of Wrath

"The Operetta" aka "Queen of the Gypsies" from season 2.
There are so many others that I love also, that it's really pretty arbitrary.

As Bway fans, let's not forget the episode in which Lucy, Ricky, Fred and Ethel share 2 seats for the Most Happy Fella. Frank Loesser was a close friend of Lucy and Desi, so they really gave his show quite a tribute. You can see footage in this episode of the actual Imperial Theater marquee for The Most Happy Fella. This and all other episodes are available on VHS and are currently being put on DVD, season by season. Although Lucy was said to be one of the toughest perfectionists to work with, she was wonderful to her fans. One afternoon in 1984, she called me at home to thank me for something I gave her at a lecture she had given the day before. She followed the call with a handwritten letter which I still have and will always cherish. She was not just a star. Lucy and Desi were pioneers in a new world called television. Many of their inventions (live audiences, flashbacks, reruns, multi-camera technique, using film instead of kinescope) are still used today!
