Saw the show last night in Vegas... hmmm... what can I say... for a Las Vegas show... i actually enjoyed it very much... actually so did the crowd... right when the show ended it was an almost immediate standing ovation... and yeah, I stood along with them... should the show ever make it to Broadway... I doubt it could ever succeed...
the show itself was so hokey and cheesy... the plot being kinda stupid, but the constant jokes about today's pop music being stupid and crappy music... forgot the the full acronym but they called today's music Computerized RA Pop... completely forgot what the R and A stood for, argh... hillarious...
anyways... I was only there for one reason... the Queen music... the finale of We Will Rock You, We Are the Champions and then Bohemian Rhapsody was just awesome to hear... the band kicked a$$ and rocked out in true form... the audience went nuts when they introduced the band... some guy in the orchestra was rocking out and everything in his chair like it was a rock concert... it was awesome... the usher had to tell him to tone it down... hmmm... kinda bummed I didn't see Tony Vincent as Galileo but Jason Wooten, who splits the role with him, was awesome... loved his voice...
as a piece of theater... i'd say it's crap... but as las vegas entertainment... had a whole lot of fun and so did the audience and it looked like the cast was having fun too, espeically during the finale...
that's about it!
I have the cast recording and yes, the story is STUPID but the singing, instrumentals, and energy is amazing. I love it!!

I want to see this so bad, simply because Queen rocks!
i saw the show in london and while the story was really really stupid, i found it entertaining. I think the music helped me come to that decision!
I really want to see it because Queen is awesome.
I hated this show. It's GOOD VIBRATIONS with weird sets and special effects.
yeah but queen is so much better than the beach boys in my opinion!
THe music doesn't matter - it's unoriginal. I don't care if it's Britney Spears' music - if the book and story are as deplorable as those in WWRY or GV, there is no comparing them.
I saw the show recently while I was in vegas and I agree with eats. The book is cheesy and hokey but i found that it works, and the audience loved it. The story line did not bother me at all. IT r eminded me of return to the forbidden planet with Queen music. I had a great evening of tacky entertainment that belongs in vegas.
I saw We Will Rock you in December and thought the show as a whole represented an even worse Mamma Mia. The book is God awful and maybe say that Mamma Mia's book is bad; I couldn't stand the constant cracks at today's pop artists, but I will say the music was wonderful and the leads sang the S*** outta the music. Over all I had a blast, but still felt like I was missing something (good plot etc.) The guy that plays Britney Spears though is quite funny and the introductions of the "Bohemians" was wonderful. The finale rocked and I'm too young to know Queen's music from when it originally came out.
Jason Wooten is an extremely talented performer in my book and a definite rock star!

The cast recording is interesting. Tony Vincent is great, but I'm not a huge fan of Queen.
When did they come out with a cast recording?
Last year. It's from London.

Ok. I saw the show on 3-2-05. I hated it for the most part. The story is crap and the choreography is so basic. It is too bad because the dancers looked like they could have really handled harder stuff. Jason Wooten, Ty Taylor, and Carly Thomas were all great. The rest of the leads were ok. I wished that they had just done the show like a concert with some great choreography. It would have worked so much better for me. I really hope they don't bring it to broadway. It would be a big mistake.
I recently saw the show in Vegas too. I had a great time. I was never much of a Queen fan but it made me really love their music. I have been listening to the London Cast Recording nonstop since then. It's a show for the open minded. It defintely wouldn't make it on Broadway but it definitely works for Vegas.
I love Carly Thomas. She can sing her face off. She is a definite candidate to play Elphaba in Wicked. She is someone to be on the look out for. SO FIERCE!!!

I am off to Vegas next month....I think I am going to try to see it if I can go for half price. Does anyone know if it's at the half price booth during the week?

I saw Queen live on the Day at the Races tour and they really were not that good. They actually left the stage when the recording of the opera portion of Bohemian Rhapsody came on. I know the stars of today would lip-synch it, but staring at an empty dark stage was less than thrilling.
But really, don't get all nostalgic for something that wasn't taht good in the first place.
Anastasia I went to the half price booth at the Fashion Mall but the didn't have We Will Rock You and they said they don't ever have it.
I bought a 53.00 seat at the back and then when the lights started to dim I moved down to the center orchestra. This was a Friday night. It was 3/4 full and there were plenty of seats left down front.
If you want to be certain to be able to move get one of those 53.00 for the 10:30pm Saturday show. That show never sales out. Tony Vincent doesn't do the 10:30 but I hear that Jason Wooten is amazing. But it never sales out completely anyway so more than likely you would be able to move at any performance.
