Posted: 3/3/06 at 8:41amI think as you will see, there is no dress code. As with the evening shows, people wear whatever they feel like.

You have to dye your hair a silver-blue or you might not get in.

Don't dress sloppy, but don't overdo it either. I'd even say you could get away with wearing jeans, as long as you have a nice top to go with it.
What are you seeing in Boston?

Look nice, but be comfortable. As others have mentioned, clearly, there is no dress code.
I sat behind a woman on a Saturday evening performance of DRS and she was wearing an apalling blue jogging outfit - sweatpants, sweatshirt and sneakers. Nice.
I often wear jeans to the theatre - I dress it up with a nice top/shoes. It's perfectly acceptable, and in that outfit you will look nicer than most of the other patrons - especially the ones in sweats!

Whenever I go to the theatre I like to wear a red tracksuit with an I <3 Idina shirt underneath. And LOTS of glitter.
But again, that's just me

Posted: 3/3/06 at 3:08pmThis is a never-ending battle, and everyone has strong opinions. You will see people dressed in anything, but I usually go for something a little nice. Even to a matinee.

I totally agree. When I'm in the theatre district I ahve a lot of walking to do and usually am seeing two shows. Therefore, the above is perfect.

Posted: 3/3/06 at 9:15pmcall me old fashioned.............but I really find it so disheartening that people don't dress up anymore when going to the theater. I have spent many years going to shows and I ALWAYS dress up.....jacket, tie, etc. It made going to a show an "evening out".Now, it seems everybody just throws on whatever to go out. I've worked in theater for about 6 years, and even cast members find it respectful when they see an audience dressed in "proper attire". If you want to dress any old way to see a show, that's your choice.......but my opinion is ."stand out....people will respect you for it and take notice" Going to the theater should still mean something a little special.

Posted: 3/3/06 at 9:26pmI'm one who also likes to dress for the theatre - if for no other reason than out of respect for the performers on the stage. I do dress casual (but nice) for matinees. I also know that many like to wear jeans at matinees and that's fine as long as they're nice. The torn raggy jeans, or the ones hanging half way off the butt are absolutely taboo in my book. I feel like people who wear those with torn tshirts couldn't care less about themselves or the people on the stage. I wish they'd just stick with movies.
A click for life.

Posted: 3/3/06 at 9:27pmA baggy t-shirt and jeans is always underdressed. Yes, even at a matinee, even with rush tickets, even at Rent. I loathe when people make excuses for dressing like that.

I know this is an old thread but I did want to do my due diligence and search the subject...
Do to the warmer weather at this time of year, do you see (think that) nice shorts (dockers) for gentlemen are considered acceptable? Naturally with a nice collared pull over.
Thank you as always...
