I hated the score. I don't like 80's music. I find most of it completely unmemorable. The score was supposed to sound like 80's pop. Unfortunately it did.
It reminded me of Big the musical. In a bad way. All it needed was a roller coaster.
And the second act is a mess! I am not even sure what happened. I guess everything works out, but I thought the aiplane thing at the end of drowsy chaperone was a clearer ending than this celeb impersonator mix. Which I didn't find funny. Just because Billy Idol was in the movie does not mean he should be in the play.
Threepenny Opera is getting criticized for alientating its audience too much. This show alienated me with all of its pop culture refereces. Song titles were used as lines for comedy's sake. This pulled me out of the show all for the sake of a cheap laugh. After lines like that, it was tough to get back to show having been alienated like that. I was especially alienated when I didn't get certain references, and I am in my twenties.
What was with the number single? Seemed exactly like a song from "I love You Because" Which is a way better show. Go see that instead.

Have any of you seen the nonsense that's been going on over on ATC? It makes the good old BKLYN shilling days seem positively pristine.
