Well, I got student rush for last nights performance of Wedding Singer and I had a BLAST!!! The seats are amazing, I was worried when they were decribed as partial view, but I was front row dead center and the only thing I missed was the top of the actors feet. Wonderful.
I was so dissapointed that Amy Spanger was out, but Cara Cooper was wonderful as Holly. The cast is top-notch, Stephen Lynch is adorable and has great chemistry wiuth Laura Benanti.
I knew I was in for a funny, lighthearted show but I don't think I have ever laughed so much at a show in my life!!! I cannot WAIT for this recording to be released because every song is ridiculiusly catchy and wonderfully 80's!! Probably my favorite original score in quite a few seasons.
Can we talk costumes for a second?? WOW!! The wedding dresses were amazing in the most hideous way possible. One of the ensemble members had a jean skirt IDENTICAL to one I owned in the third grade...no joke! Spekaibng of costumes, Felicia Finnley as Linda was THE highlight of my evening! She only has two numbers to sing but they both BROUGHT the house down!! Her outrageous outfits were out of this world and my jaw dropped both times she was on stage. Some amazing choreography as well!!
This is such an enegergetic, talented cast and I had one of the most fun theatre-going experiences I have ever had! Go see this show, you CANNOT leave in a bad mood! I will be back to see this one several times to be sure =)

Posted: 4/9/06 at 10:28amI just want to state for the record that Kevin Cahoon is my hero. "Shapiro Family.." Hysterical. The entire show is so much fun.

I went to the box office and got there about 1:30 and was dead center...I think it might only be the first row? or first two? I am not quite sure but they were easy to get. I assume they are sold as soon as the box office opens?
From what I understand, there are no more performances until the official opening night so hopefully they dont change the policy at aLl =) The seats really are wonderful. You can look below and see Linda and Holly and other actors below waiting to walk up the stairs...Holly waved at me =)

Posted: 4/9/06 at 11:15amWhy would there be no more performances until opening night, which is the 27th? There selling tickets on telecharge for all perfdormances til then. I hope you don't mean student rush tickets are not being sold cuz that would suck for me.

Posted: 4/9/06 at 11:17amhmm, Perhaps I misheard, but at the stage door last night, someone asked about a performance tomorrow (i.e. today, Sunday) and the Stage Managaer or whoever the guy was says "no, no show tomorrow, there won't be any more performances until we open," So, i'm kinda confused now?

Posted: 4/9/06 at 11:40amThey aren't going to have any shows between now and April 27? That obviously can't be right...

Posted: 4/9/06 at 12:54pmThey were probably referring to the fact that there are no performances on Sunday until after they officially open.

Saw it tonight and Amy Spanger was out again. Cara Cooper did a nice job though-actually was very Amy like. But Amy has been out a lot, huh? I wonder what's up.
I must say there has been a lot of Laura Benati hating on this board for her role in this. I thought she was adorable! I like her in the blond wig too, much better than her brunette. It made her look younger and more '80s.
I also adored Felicia Finley. She has one hell of a voice on her and she's really buff!
You know, it's no masterpiece and I definitely had some "Oh please" moments but it was really entertaining-and I thought the ensemble was fantastic!

I saw the show on the 1st and was informed a good chunk of the cast, mostly ensemble but some main actors as well, were all really sick. Seems Amy got the brunt of it.
Hope she's feeling better soon! I'm really glad I got to see her live finally - she is phenomenal.
