It's always sad to see a favorite musical close, especially a long-running one like "Chicago". from RC in Austin, Texas USA (pictured with Terra C...the current "Velma" on Broadway). P.S. Does anyone think that the show will re-open after a decent interval? I could see that happening.

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

I'm so sad about the closing of the London "Chicago". It was one of the first shows I obsessed over (the other being "Sunset Boulevard"), and one of the first shows that I went out seeking every cast album I could find for. I still remember how excited I got obtaining the Dutch cast album.

And I really loved the London Cast album with Ruthie and Ute. It's what made me become big fans of thiers.

I know that "Chicago" gets kind of a bum rap now because of their merry-go-round of both actors who have played roles for years and years and years, and for the stunt casting, but it is a great show.

I'm aware that "Chicago" can be underappreciated by some. I was one of those. Now, it's my favorite musical. It could have been that lack of appreciation that caused the West End production to shutter. I'm just glad that "Chicago" on Broadway keeps standing tall, while other shows fall by the wayside. from RC in Austin, TExas
