I'm planning a trip to London in late December and trying to assemble some shows ahead of time. I just had a few questions for London posters and those who are going to or have been to London recently.
1. If I ordered now, could I still get seats to Billy Elliot? I don't care where the seats are in the theatre; I just want to know if any seats will be available for late December.
2. Does anybody have any recommendations? I have five open slots and I've already seen Mary Poppins, The Woman in White and Les Miserables. I'm open to any suggestions.
Thanks a lot!

it will be better to book for billy now just to be safe.
we will rock you is very entertaining.
woman in white is rubbish.
poppins is ok, but i think you will see the new cast if you go in december.
blood brothers is always good to see,
saturday night fever is entertaining and you are guaranteed seats as it doesnt sell out at all and tickets are cheap.

Mary Stuart starring Janet McTeer and Barbara Jefford; must-see, don't miss. It is a limited run at the Apollo. I don't have the closing date. I don't like to toss around words like 'brilliant' because they will lose their meaning if I do. This is truly brilliant and very accessable. Go.
Epitaph for George Dillon with Joseph Fiennes. It ought to be a success d'estime at the very least.
What's at the National?
Why go see musicals when, if they are any good, they will come here?
Google Billy Elliot and go from there. That's how I bought tix. Ticketmaster is the sales agent. Buy now as it is a tight ticket.

There was talk of a production of Sunday in the Park with George at the Menier Chocolate Factory. I saw Tick Tick Boom there in July and it's a marvellous space. Intimate and with good actors....

Maybe Guys and Dolls? Haven't seen it myself, but should be good.
Try out www.whatsonstage.com for most up to date website about London theatre.....

That sounds great! I'll definitely look into it.
I considered Guys and Dolls, but both McGregor and Krakowski will be gone by the time I'm in London.

Yeah but Sarah Lancashire is taking over (phenomonal actress with a good voice!) and young Den Watts... erm, Nigel Harman (i think that's his name) is the new Sky! He has quite a few musicals under his belt and is a good actor!
I'd say see Blood Brothers, Guys and Dolls, The Woman In Black... not too sure if there's anything really new at the moment!

Go see
1.) The Woman In Black
2.) Guys and Dolls
3.) Fame-the musical
4.) Billy Elliot
5.) Scrooge !

Well, in my opinion, one cannot see Les Mis too many times, but...
I really enjoyed Blood Brothers.
Woman in Black is interesting (but annoying if you end up with a theatre full of squealing middle schoolers)
I can never hurt to check out something with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Oh, and I have a love for the Reduced Shakespeare Company. If they are doing The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged-- GO! It's hilarious!
...I'm sure there's more but I can't think of them at the moment.

Posted: 10/10/05 at 12:46pmTry http://www.seetickets.com/ for Billy Elliot tickets. Normally have good seats in Stalls or Dress Circle. Grand Circle is ok in the Victoria Palace, but limited leg room especially if you are tall.

I would second Sunday in the Park with George. It'll be a small production, but line-up of talent looks good! Find out more from their website:

Blood Brothers is good, as is (in a completely different way) Mary Stuart at the Apollo - it's a Donmar production, so the cast is top-notch.
Jason Robert Brown is also doing a week of concerts, but that's towards early December (from the 7th).

Posted: 10/11/05 at 6:32amI bought tickets to Mary Stuart yesterday. I love Janet McTeer and it looks like a great production!

ENO are always worth seeing, especially if they're doing Gilbert & Sullivan (their Mikado is breathtaking).
