i know! i feel like i've been away ages...which in fairness i have but still...i'm extremely looking forward to panto lol - lines are still a little ropey lol but it will be fixed by opening night (17th)!
You'll be fine! Ill be thinking of you when i sit down to watch Oedipus :)
SANDM2: southern snobs? have you ever ventured into the Medway/Cabterbury area? you'll soon realise that everyone in Manchester looks/acts/behaves like royalty!
Did you see Mary Poppins in London? I did and really enjoyed it, if you have seen it, could you compare with the Manchester and London to see if there is much differents?
What I would like to find out, is when Bert walks around the proscenium if that happens on tour, like it did in London, I thought that stunt was real stage magic!
i loved it...i didnt have great expectations for it, but thought it was done so well. i was quite unerwhelmed by the procenium tap dance thing, i had heard a lot about it and was expecting more.
Was there something wrong with my attempt at a thread earlier sam? :P Yay for Friday nights though. I have so many shows to go and see, and the only night i seem to be free between now and xmas is the next two mondays when everything seems to be dark. Methinks it'll be a lot of matinees for me!
ooh Acaila, nothing wrong whatsoever, we just hadn't had an official Friday Night thread in soo long, i thought it'd be a nice catchup thread. i have Oedipus on 17th December, i shall be a National Theatre virgin no more! The panto in Bromley on 23rd...its Steve Guttenburg..i grew up on the police academy films, i couldn't miss it!
Oh and as for cast albums, this week it's Urinetown, Drowsy and Les Mis (my insomnia is being a pain and Les Mis on the old ipod is an amazing way of soothing me to sleep!)
Haha! If i listen to cast recordings at night i start singing along :P i made up a playlistt of sooting slow songs to get me to sleep i remember Somewhere That's Green was on there, Send in the Clowns was another...i need to create another one i think!
Les Mis and LOTR Musical are both on my sleep playlist. Plus some a cappella and folk stuff. Never usually fails (except last night).
Speaking of singing along, the other week I was getting the bus to uni and due to road works was dropped off a stop early and walked the rest of the way. I was coming across the railway bridge to uni with As We Stumble Along on my ipod, and was giving it the full performance treatment as I mimed along when I suddenly realise I'm being passed on the bridge by a bus rather full of people all staring at this crazy girl who's just wandering along singing like she's some big diva in Vegas rather than a slightly cooky girl on her way to uni. Woops!
Hhaha you're such a spezial kid :) ive done stuff like that before, then remembering on you can hearing the music and everyone else just stares in utter confusion!
I am very speshul! My old flatmates used to say that I wouldn't sing with people around but as soon as I closed my bedroom door it was like I was on my own private stage or something cos I would just belt stuff out unashamedly. Probably drove all the neighbours up the wall!
haha! im glad there are other spezial out there, not just me i don't have work today, all the family are home, we're gonna shove on the christmas cd and decorate the house...and there's bound to be an argument along the way!
I always walk along singing the songs I'm doing, and the other day I was walking along doing Adelaide's Lament (complete with sneezes) on what I thought was an empty road, then some guy who had been walking behind me overtook me and gave me a weird, look, can't imagine why =D And talking of panto, I'm going all the way up to Leeds for it, I'm mad :S
I'm going four hours away for panto, just cos I've been to that one every year bar one since I was 5 Will also be nipping to the one that's like two minutes away from my flat. And performing of course (oww, oww, my legs don't deal well with so much dancing!) Stupid panto is keeping me from going home til Christmas Eve, and then I have to be back for a boxing day matinee!
If you find yourself at the glorious Palace Theatre Manchester to see a flying lesbian or a vagrant walking up side down on the pros arch and fancying seeking out the equally glorious SADM2, heres how! Just go to the back of the upper circle where you will find him in his own little world just ignoring the customers and pointing wildly in all directions except in the direction where their seats actually are!!! lol PS Im pretty fit but those bloody stairs will kill you getting up there- and i climbed them 3 times trying to get to him! He was worth it tho!
We only ever have a tree and we usulally get it the sunday before Christmas (or the one before if Christmas is on a monday etc), but I did spend time I should have been practicing piano playing carols instead, I got distracted by their easiness Does your house look cool and glittery now? :P
Oh you would not believe! Although it is tasteful!! We've gone for brown and gold this year, its great i love christmas we have loads of decorations, all perfectly matched, and positioned. Did someone mention the word gay..? haha my room is a vision of colour, silver and glitter :)
You're making me want to decorate, and that's not an urge I get very often haha Tasteful eh? So you don't go for the lights completely covering the outside of your house and the giant light up santa reindeers and everything that all sing?
Haha we have lights all over the front, but tasteful ones, that are colour coordinated. We have blue LED lighs around each window on the house. Then our door is like the front door, then a long window next to it..that has white stars hanging. then two snowflakes between ground floor and 1st that are blue and alternate between white a blue... Christmas at Sams = Classy, Tasteful and so OTT
Lol that sounds great! =D Ever thought of organising weddings? Oh we do actually have one thing other than the tree. Every day on my way to school about 8 years ago, there was this shop that was mostly covered apart from a gap in the window, where there was a figurine thing of Wallace and Gromit, with Gromit in the bath, and every day they stuck a bit more on it, like kit kat foil and they gave gromit antlers and a red nose from one of those little dot stickers and now it's this christmas scene! The shop closed down and they gave it to us =) It sounds tacky but it's cool!
