West Side Story Open Call Question/ Tony ?

Has anyone gone to the WSS open calls?
What are they looking for for the role of Tony?
I'm tan, black hair, tenor, teenager, and was wondering if thats what they were looking for.

Basically someone who is fit, handsome, has an amazing voice, and can act. The notice now says early 20's, though.

Jake- they said you have to be 16- nothing else. I called.

I've met you before, and IMHO, you're not what they'd be looking for in a Tony. I could be wrong and have a strange idea of what Tony should look like in my head.

If you want to go to the open call, go for it...maybe they'd put you in another role. But I don't see you as Tony. Sorry. :)

...jordan it's not like your a casting director. what do you know? maybe they are looking for a unique and nontraditional cast.

A friend of mine with several Broadway credits and an amazing voice went in and Laurents looked at his resume and said "Too much theatre! too much Broadway"

So erase all your credits before you audition.

And your question was answered, but you still bumped. Someone has said what they are looking for. I didn't say don't try out...I just said IMHO you're not "Tony".

I really don't think ANY of us on here are casting directors, so why bother asking if you're not going to like the responses you get?

I know they want Tony to be a tenor but I'm a bass. Do you think that's what they're looking for?

I'm also short. Does that hurt me?

I also don't know how to dance. Is that bad?

I also don't know anything about the show.

I also have no talent.

But I heard this revival is diverse. Maybe I'm just what they're looking for.
